Diablo 4 New Seasonal Character: Skip Campaign Available?

We explain if new Diablo 4 seasons will feature an option to skip the story campaign right from the start.

Finishing Diablo 4's story campaign can take you upwards of 35 hours, depending on how much you get sidetracked by the myriad of activities in the huge open regions of Sanctuary. While the campaign was great, we don't really want to go through it all again every new season, so others might be wondering if you can skip the story with a seasonal character right from the start.

This guide explains if you can skip the story with a new character each season, where you can expect your character to start, and what carries over, so let's get going.

Update on 19 July 2023: We've updated this article with the latest info on skipping the Diablo 4 story with a seasonal character.

Diablo 4 Season Character Campaign Skip Available?

We are happy to inform our Diablo 4 fans that the campaign skip option will be available at the start of a new season. Yes, you won't have to go through the entire story again every season of Diablo 4. An option appears beneath Hardcore when creating a character, allowing you to skip the campaign with this Diablo 4 character entirely.

Your seasonal character will spawn directly in Kyovashad (the main city) at the Waypoint and can run out to start doing dungeons, sidequests, events, and more without any delay.

We do believe that you will need to complete the story of a Diablo 4 expansion once, but we are not sure about the baseline story at this point in time.

New Diablo 4 Season Character Progress

Your first seasonal character for each Diablo 4 season will only carry over the following progress from the Eternal Realm:

  • Altars of Lilith progression, including Stat bonuses, Renown claimed from each one, and Obol capacity from Altars.
  • Map exploration: Map discovery points already earned, as well as the Renown earned for these discoveries (5 each).

Yes, you will get a nice Renown bonus when you start off. If you skip the campaign with another alt, the following will carry over from your first seasonal character (same season):

  • Obols acquired.
  • Skill points from Renown system.
  • Potion capacity increase from Renown system.
  • Red Dust from Field of Hatred PvP.
  • Gold farmed.

You can, of course, choose to complete the Diablo 4 campaign again, but it is a slower leveling process than simply running out into the world, doing Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, and more.

In case you missed it, check out the Campfire chat below, where Blizzard discusses progress carrying over from season to season.

That's everything you need to know about skipping the Diablo 4 campaign with a seasonal character, including what carries over from characters in the same season and from characters on the Eternal Realm to the seasonal realm.

If any details change, we will endeavor to update this article faster than a Treasure Goblin runs away from a wanderer.
